Our little house in Castel Rigone

Casa Mia

And this is where we will be staying in our little house in Castel Rigone. We bought this little house about five years ago as a stop-gap. Somewhere to stay for holidays while we ere waiting to get planning permission for our villa in Cimbano.  We quickly fell in love with the house and the village and the people and now will feel so sad to leave it.

Here are a few pics of the house and the village:

Here we come!

Typical view

This is what awaits us on arriving at our little house on Tuesday.  Rolling green countryside dotted with olive groves and cyprus trees hazy in the mid-day sun.  Quiet roads winding their way up hillsides to the chorus of cicadas through tiny villages where time seems to have stood still.  Wonderful, friendly people who embrace life and open their homes to us. Endless Sagras and festivals, sumptuous food and wine.
It's like turning the clock back ten, twenty, thirty years!  Time stands still.  I can be at any one time the eighteen year old here for the first time and head over heels in love with everything.  The young wife dreaming and planning and hoping that one day we would be able to stay here for ever. The mother enjoying it all afresh through her children's eyes.  And now, nearly retired and seeing that dream very nearly come true.  This area is still magical to me.  It has never lost any of its enchantment.  I  cant' wait!
